Prefects Induction 2015

On the morning of the 10th of February,2015 (which was last week Tuesday) the gym was beautifully decorated and the chairs neatly assembled. Parents and Guardians came in big numbers to support their children who have been appointed as student body leaders. There was a beautiful spirit felt as we all anticipated the badging of our student body leaders for the year 2015. The Roll Call was done by the house masters from each house Lehites,Mulekites, Nephites and Jaredites. The whole crowd applauded mightily as the Student Body Leaders for each house were badged. The school choir sang the Theme Song for the Youths for 2015,  "Embark in the Service of God...." beautifully after which we were addressed by Mrs Vasiti Loki who was our Chief Guest for the 2015 Prefects Induction.

We were honored to have Mrs Vasiti Loki as our chief guest who is not only a parent at the school but who has also been an educator for many years. She has a Masters Degree in Governance. She began work as a journalist at he Fiji Times Limited and later joined the teaching profession and taught for 16 years. She also worked at the Schools Broadcast unit for two years as an Education officer and was called by the Ministry of Education to work in the Executive Support Unit. Later, she was appointed as the Education Officer in charge of Social Sciences at the Curriculum Development Unit. She then became the Secondary Curriculum Writer for the UNDP funded Citizenship Education Project. She resigned in 2012 to take up Mission work with the Mahanaim Church Ministry of which she is currently holds the  position as the General Secretary. She loves books and reading and they have four children(two sons and two daughters).

She was introduced by Dr. Michael Carthew and later gave a timely message not only to the student leaders but the school as a whole including students, teachers, parents and guardians. She shared an interesting opinion on the different spaces or identities that students have from home, on their way to school, in school and on their way home. She specifically asked the students not to bring their identities from the street(catching the school bus on their way to school) because school is a different space. She reminded the students that their identity here in school should be one that's driven to learn and respect their teachers and peers. She encouraged the student body leaders to do their best for their task will not be easy and she also asked the rest of the student body to help out the student body leaders by obeying the school rules. To be able to understand each other and work together we need to Glorify Our Heavenly Father.

A big Vinaka Vakalevu to everyone that made this years prefects' induction a successful one. From Administration who organised the program and the decoration, Salusalu Kuruvakarua and the school choir for the beautiful music, Ifa Konitaci and her students who prepared and served refreshments, Students who arranged the chairs, Facilities Management for their assistance, to the whole student body who were so well behaved throughout the whole program and last but not the least to all the parents and guardians who brought a plate and came out to support our students especially the Student Body Leaders. Great Team Work Everyone!!

A Look back at the Year 13 excursion in 2014

In 2014, the Year 13 students decided to visit the temple once each term. Their efforts and desire brought home the Mutual Theme for 2014 found in Moroni 10:32 "Come Unto Christ and be perfected in Him, and deny yourselves of all ungodliness"

They performed great service in the temple performing baptisms for the dead for others as well as their own deceased ancestors. Out of these visits to the temple, the Year 13 students of 2014 became unified and were spiritually fortified as they prepare to face the world and the important choices that will shape their futute.

We thank the school for their outstanding support towards the Year 13 class of 2014 who ended their last year of high school unanimously declaring that it was "Our best year ever in high school, which we will forever cherish."
